Everything You Need to Know About One-Time Ballot Request

PHOENIX — Maricopa County’s July 30 Primary Election is less than 50 days away and now is the perfect time to make a plan for how you choose to vote.

If you’re one of the many Valley residents who take a break from the heat during the month of July or if you’re an Independent/Party Not Designated (PND) voter, you may need to make a one-time ballot request at Request.Maricopa.Vote.

Remember: Even if you have forwarded your mail to a different address for the summer, USPS will not forward election mail.

If you’re an Independent/PND voter on AEVL, you will not automatically receive a ballot for the July 30 Primary, you will need to request one. Here’s a list of options and explanations about the process:

  • Independent/PND voters can choose from one of three ballots: Republican, Democratic, or nonpartisan/local issue ballot only, if applicable.
  • This one-time request will not change your party status or anything regarding your voter registration.
  • Not all voters are eligible for a nonpartisan/local issues ballot. Below is a graphic identifying all Maricopa County jurisdictions that will offer a nonpartisan/local issues ballot. Note: Republican and Democratic ballots will automatically include these issues when applicable.
  • If you would like to receive your ballot in early July, you must make this request by end of day on June 22.
Nonpartisan/Local Issues Ballot Options

No matter what your political affiliation is, if you plan to be out of town for the month of July, you will likely need to utilize a One-Time Ballot Request. Here’s what you need to know and why:

  • This one-time request is available for any active registered voters, whether you are on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) or not.
  • Those who utilize this request will get a mail ballot sent to the requested address for the July 30 Primary Election only.
  • This ballot can be sent to your vacation home, a family member’s home in a different state, your cabin in a different county — anywhere that you will be in order to receive it on time.
  • This request will not change your voter registration.
  • The last day to make this request is July 19, however, if you are going to be out of town and mailing your ballot back, we recommend requesting this sooner rather than later. All mail ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on July 30 regardless of the postmark.
