NEWS Point Academy will offer globally recognized academics and access to premier athletic
facilities
Mesa, AZ — NEWS Point Academy, a new tuition-free public charter high school, will open in Fall 2026 at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa. The school offers a new educational option for families across Mesa and surrounding communities seeking a high-quality, college-preparatory experience in a unique setting. NEWS Point Academy will initially serve students in Grades 9 and 10, with plans to grow into a full four-year high school.
At NEWS Point Academy, we aim to empower students with a rigorous, college-preparatory education while fostering strong leadership, sportsmanship, and community. We are committed to developing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, thrive in athletics, and lead with integrity.
Arizona Athletic Grounds, located at 6321 S Ellsworth Road, Mesa, is where NEWS Point Academy brings academics and athletics together in a purposeful way. The campus offers access to premier facilities for sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball, creating an environment where discipline, teamwork, and high performance are part of everyday learning.
“We’re excited to offer a world-class education in a setting that encourages success both in the classroom and across all sports arenas,” said school leadership. “NEWS Point Academy will create new educational options for families in Mesa and surrounding areas, fostering meaningful collaboration between academics and athletics.”
Students at NEWS Point Academy will follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, a globally recognized academic framework known for its rigor and emphasis on critical thinking, strong communication skills, and college readiness. The IB curriculum prepares students to succeed in higher education and beyond by encouraging intellectual curiosity, global perspective,
and academic excellence.
While the school is located within an elite athletic complex, NEWS Point Academy is open to all
students. Participation in sports is not required. Students may continue training with club or
community teams, and all athletic participation will follow Canyon Athletic Association (CAA)
guidelines.
For families seeking innovative educational options, NEWS Point Academy offers a unique opportunity by pairing world-class academics with unparalleled sports training environments at a nationally recognized athletic complex, all within a tuition-free public school.
NEWS Point Academy operates as an independent public charter school with its own leadership and governance. The school will collaborate with existing athletic organizations at Arizona Athletic Grounds while maintaining a clear focus on academic excellence and student development.
