QUEEN CREEK, AZ – The Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce invited candidates for the 2024 Primary and General Election on a “Meet the Candidate” interview. This initiative is designed to provide residents with an accessible platform to learn more about the individuals running for office. Through these interviews, candidates share their visions, policies, and priorities, allowing voters to make informed decisions. Understanding who is running for office is crucial to making an informed decision at the polls. Candidates come from varying backgrounds, each bringing unique experiences, visions, and policy priorities to the table. Researching their platforms, past performance, and qualifications enables voters to evaluate which candidate aligns best with their values and the needs of the community. The 2024 Primary will be held on July 30th. All registered voters in Maricopa County may vote in this election, which will determine the candidates from each party that will be on the General Election Ballot in November. Voter registration deadline is on July 1st; ensure you are registered to vote by visiting Maricopa County Elections website.
There are three incumbents running unopposed for Queen Creek Town Council: Robin Benning, Jeff Brown, and Leah Martineau. All candidates in the Queen Creek Town Council race will be on the General Election Ballot in November.
Three individuals are running for Maricopa County Board of Supervisors: Jack Sellers (incumbent), Joel Navarro, and Mark Stewart. Candidates Chairman Sellers and Stewart will be on the July Primary Ballot. Maricopa County is governed by five elected district supervisors who serve four-year terms. They provide direction to the County administration and several other county departments. They decide the county tax rate and approve the county budget, and oversee health, roads, parks, libraries, and law enforcement.
Five individuals running for the House of Representatives for Legislative District 15: Neal Carter (incumbent), Peter Anello, Barbara Bentionie, Alex Stovall, and Michael Way. Candidates Representative Carter, Anello, Stovall, and Way will be on the July Primary Ballot. There are two seats available. The Arizona State House of
Representatives is made up of 60 representatives, two from each of Arizona’s 30 legislative districts, and serve two-year terms and are subject to term limits of no more than four two-year terms. Representatives in the House have the authority to draft, introduce, and vote on legislation or laws.
Two individuals are running unopposed for the Arizona State Senate in Legislative District 15: Jake Hoffman (incumbent) and Alan Smith; these candidates will be on the General Election Ballot in November. The Arizona State Senate is made up of 30 Senators, one from each of Arizona’s 30 legislative districts, and serve two-year terms and are subject to term limits of no more than four two-year terms. State Senators draft, introduce, and vote on legislation or laws, They can create laws and add amendments to the Arizona State Constitution, and in conjunction with the House, the senate approves the state’s annual budget.
Three individuals are running for Arizona U.S. Senator: Ruben Gallago, Sheriff Mark Lamb, and Kari Lake. Candidates Sheriff Lamb and Lake will be on the July Primary Election ballot.
“It is important the community is well-informed about who they are electing to office, their stances, policies, and visions. Another important issue we will see on the General Election Ballot in November are ballot initiatives; there may be between 11 and 20 different ballot initiatives depending on if they meet all the signature requirements. As a reminder, these are voter protected and cannot be changed once approved by voters. It is crucial that voters understand these initiatives and their impact on the community and state.
