Town proclamation honors military families and service members as Military Moms in QC/STV marks 20 years of support
SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — Military Moms in QC/STV is inviting the community to come together in recognition of those who serve and the families who stand behind them as the Town of San Tan Valley proclaims September 2026 as Military Families Month.
Mayor Daren Schnepf and the San Tan Valley Town Council will present the proclamation during the Town Council meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the San Tan Valley Library, Bronze Room, 31505 N. Schnepf Road. The recognition also marks the 20th anniversary of Military Moms in QC/STV.
The meeting is open to the public. Residents, veterans, military families and supporters are welcome to attend and stand together in appreciation of those who serve and the loved ones who stand beside them.
Military Moms in QC/STV began in 2006 when San Tan Valley resident Bridgette Crosby’s oldest son deployed to Iraq. Today, Crosby is the mother of three children who have served in the military: one U.S. Army veteran, one U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and one active-duty U.S. Army service member.
“When our loved ones serve, the entire family serves alongside them,” Crosby said. “Having someone you love in a war zone brings fear and uncertainty that are difficult to understand unless you have lived it. My son’s deployment to Iraq affected our entire family. We had little local support, and I wanted to make sure other military families didn’t have to go through it alone.”
What began with one mother reaching out has grown into two decades of care packages, memorial cleanups, pancake breakfasts, barbecues, Books4Troops, veteran support, arts programs and remembrance initiatives.
Staying connected with service members has remained at the heart of Military Moms in QC/STV. Some service members receive few letters or packages from home, and even a simple message can remind someone serving far away that they are remembered and appreciated.
Caring for the loved ones waiting at home is equally important. Spouses, parents, siblings and military children all experience the separations and uncertainties of military life.
Crosby’s connection to the military spans generations. Her husband is a Gold Star Son whose father, Gary Lee Crosby, served in the U.S. Air Force and lost his life in 1976. Crosby is also the daughter of a World War II veteran and sister of a Navy veteran.

“Supporting those who serve means supporting the families who love them,” Crosby said. “We want them all to know, ‘We see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you.'”
