Rip it. Replace it. Rebate it.
The Town of Queen Creek is offering financial incentives to help residents, businesses, homeowners associations and commercial property owners save water by replacing high-water-use grass with desert-friendly landscaping.
The Town currently offers two turf conversion incentive programs, one for residential properties and one for non-residential properties. Both programs are designed to reduce outdoor water use, improve water efficiency and support long-term water reliability.
Residential Grass Conversion Incentive Program
Residential potable water customers within the Town of Queen Creek water service area may receive $2 per square foot to remove grass and install low-water-use landscaping. Incentives are available up to $5,000 per property, with a minimum of 500 square feet required to participate.
Artificial turf is allowed up to a limit of 1,000 square feet, but the entire landscaped area must still meet the required 30% plant canopy density.
To participate in the program, residents must submit an online application, including property information, pre-photos, an aerial map and a basic landscape plan. Applicants may be required to complete pre- and post-inspections by water conservation staff to verify that the landscape meets all program requirements before receiving the rebate.
To learn more about the residential program, including eligibility, requirements and the application, visit the Town’s Residential Grass Conversion Incentive webpage.
Non-Residential Turf Conversion Incentive Program
The Town of Queen Creek is also offering financial incentives to help businesses, homeowners associations, schools and commercial property owners convert natural grass to low-water-use landscaping and/or very limited artificial turf.
Qualified non-residential businesses and organizations can receive $2 per square foot, up to $20,000 per property annually, to remove natural grass and install low-water-use landscaping and/or limited artificial turf.
Property managers will be required to submit an application on the Town of Queen Creek website and complete pre- and post-inspections by conservation staff to verify that the project meets all program requirements before receiving the rebate.
Funding is limited and incentives are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Funding is provided by Salt River Project in partnership with the Town of Queen Creek to support water conservation efforts in Arizona through projects that reduce water use, improve water-use efficiency and enhance long-term water reliability.
